Mark Meador represents clients in high-profile and complex antitrust matters, drawing on his wide-ranging experience working for federal antitrust enforcers and the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee. His expertise spans antitrust compliance, merger reviews, strategic communications, coalition management, regulatory advocacy, and competition policy counseling.
Mark has led and participated in complex investigations as an antitrust enforcer at both the Federal Trade Commission, in the Bureau of Competition’s Healthcare Division, and in the Transportation, Energy & Agriculture Section of the Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division. He was deeply involved in FTC’s efforts to combat pay-for-delay agreements and product hopping in the pharmaceutical industry. At DOJ, Mark played a key role in several high-profile investigations, including the Division’s successful challenge of Visa/Plaid.
Mark served a total of four years as the senior Republican antitrust attorney for the Senate Judiciary Committee, both as a detailee from FTC and DOJ and as Deputy Chief Counsel for Antitrust & Competition Policy to Sen. Mike Lee. In that role, Mark advised on oversight of federal enforcers and oversaw twenty-one subcommittee hearings covering some of the most high-profile antitrust matters of our time. Mark played a pivotal role in the preparation and review of several landmark antitrust bills, including the State Antitrust Enforcement Venue Act and the Merger Filing Fee Modernization Act passed into law in 2022. He continues to be a sought-after speaker and advisor on conservative antitrust policy.
Mark also previously worked at another major D.C. law firm, where he represented parties appearing before federal and state antitrust enforcers, including in merger, civil, and criminal investigations. Mark provided ongoing antitrust compliance advice to several clients, and was deeply involved multiple matters relating to Big Tech.
At Kressin Meador Powers, Mark continues to engage with cutting-edge antitrust issues. His clients range from startups and individuals to Fortune 500 companies in a wide array of industries, including agriculture, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, technology, insurance, grocery and retail, manufacturing, telecom, finance, and journalism. Mark’s unique experience enables him to advise not only on antitrust compliance and litigation, drawing on his experience as a former enforcer, but also on the policy dimensions of offensive and defensive antitrust strategies.
